Renewal of a hotel heating system (2017)

In order to reduce electricity and heating costs, a CHP plant was installed in a hotel in Baden Württemberg as part of a modernization of the heating system. The hotel is connected to the local district heating supply, but it was decided to rely on its own supply.

A CHP unit generates electricity, which is used directly and as required in the company's own operations; the excess heat is transferred to a stratified storage tank. An additional district heating transfer station allows the combined or optional use of district heating or waste heat from the CHP for heating and domestic hot water. Since high bulk capacities were required, it was decided to install a 300kW drinking water cascade. This ensures an efficient and hygienic hot water supply for the entire hotel. Two central controllers organize the generation and monitor the heat distribution throughout the entire building.
